Visit.brussels Citizen Week 2019

visit.brussels, the official tourism and convention bureau of Brussels, initiated their first edition of the “Citizen Week”, between june 4 to 6 2019. This important new initiative offered the possibility to 128 impatient and thrilled colleagues to dedicate time and energy to a selection of 8 non-profit organisations: Don Bosco, Foyer Lilla Monod, Foyer Georges Motte, La Ferme du Parc Maximilien, Le Potelier, Le Souffle de Vie, Pensionnat Henri Jaspar and Résidence Jean Van AA.

Activities: The dedicated support covered activities such as painting corridors and floors, restore a vegetable garden, redevelop and maintain a park, sort clothes, create spring decoration throughout a senior home and create furniture from recycled wood pallets…

Feedback: According to Valentine, coordinator at Don Bosco, "The day with the team of Visit Brussels was a success! ... The atmosphere was beautiful to see, where some seemed to know each other while others discovered new colleagues with pleasure. ..They were very energetic and to the surprise of our maintenance man, they finished the entire corridor. He told us that he would hire this team once again if possible! Which is good sign :-) We also exchanged on our mission but unfortunately in a very short time. A big thank you to them, the doors are open whenever they wish to come back."

Micheline and Jacques from their side, at Le Souffle de Vie, confirm that "The work was carried out by the team with efficiency and good humor after an hour of exchanges and questions-answers on the organisation. The whole team was impressed by the activity that has been going on for nearly 33 years now. Some have even proposed to bring children's clothes in the near future, or to return to help on a private basis. Which is great!"
